The Scott Trust's bursary programme is now open for applications, for people who are looking to start an MA journalism course in September 2025.
The primary aim of these bursary awards is to support students who face financial difficulty in attaining the qualifications needed to pursue a career in journalism. There are 6 bursaries available, on MA courses in London, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and Sheffield.
Each bursary covers tuition fees plus at least £6,741 living expenses, paid work placements at the Guardian, a mentor, and an opportunity for a 9 month fixed term contract at the Guardian starting after graduation.
The bursaries are open to people from backgrounds that are underrepresented in the media profession. This includes people from a lower socioeconomic background; individuals from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds; people who identify as LGBTQ+; and people with a disability.
