Media Cymru is partnering with the Film Distributors’ Association, backed by Film Hub Wales and Ffilm Cymru Wales, to offer two 9-month paid traineeships in London, for Wales-based participants. The traineeships will run from June 2025 to March 2026.

You'll undertake an office-based placement in a distribution or international sales company, where you'll develop extensive knowledge of the cinema exhibition business, including producer/distributor and producer/sales agent relationships; distribution contracts and commissions; how to deliver and support film projects and what materials are required.

Both during and after the training, you'll participate in networking and information events in Wales, with a view to developing successful and sustainable careers in film distribution and sales in Wales.

To apply, you must be currently living and/or working in Wales, and have a strong interest in developing a career in film. You should not have had more than 12 months industry work experience (paid or unpaid) and you'll need to have excellent writing and communication skills, along with a desire to share Welsh culture, storytelling and language.

Trainees will be paid a monthly training allowance equivalent to the London Living Wage (£385 per week) and also receive a one-off subsistence payment of £1,000, and a Media Cymru travel and accommodation bursary totalling £9,000 across the entire placement period.
